Overview

Phoenix Area Cardiology and Electrophysiology (PACE) is a well-established cardiology practice dedicated to providing exceptional cardiovascular care with compassion, innovation, and teamwork. Our team is seeking a skilled and motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA to join our growing practice and work closely with our cardiologist.

PACE is based in Phoenix, Arizona has three clinics that offer Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology services. Two of the clinics are in Phoenix Metro area and the third is in Globe, Arizona. PACE also provides inpatient cardiovascular services to critically ill and medically complex patients. The two primary areas of inpatient services are at Select Specialty Hospital and Post Acute Rehabilitation Hospitals.

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic healthcare team in Phoenix, Arizona. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise across various specialties, including internal medicine, geriatrics, and specialty areas such as Cardiology management. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care in diverse settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, and post-acute care facilities. The successful applicant will demonstrate proficiency in procedures such as Rhythm interpretation, 12 Lead EKG interpretation. Experience working with vulnerable populations—including those in clinics, long-term acute care hospitals,post-acute hospitals, and working with people in an inter-disciplinary team—is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and patient assessments across various age groups including pediatrics (toddler care), neonatal (neonatal ventilator), adult, and geriatric populations.
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions including acute pain management, infectious diseases, behavioral health issues, and complex medical-surgical cases.
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing medical imaging and laboratory experiences; interpret results to guide treatment plans.
  • Administer medications and injections; perform procedures such as suturing, catheterization, spinal taps, gastric lavage, tube feeding management, ventilator support, and airway management.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner while adhering to HIPAA standards.
  • Provide patient education on health coaching topics including nutrition, family planning, discharge planning, and post-acute care instructions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in inpatient settings such as ICU (including PICU), Level I & II trauma centers or outpatient clinics specializing in geriatrics or pediatrics.
  • Participate in clinical research projects or utilization review processes to improve patient outcomes.
  • Engage in telehealth consultations utilizing telemedicine platforms; support infection control protocols and infection prevention strategies.
  • Assist with complex procedures such as cardiac catheterization or ophthalmology-related treatments when applicable.

Qualifications

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Phoenix, AZ, for a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) at Phoenix Area Cardiology and Electrophysiology (PACE). The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions. The role involves conducting patient evaluations, performing advanced clinical care, collaborating with cardiologists, educating patients on their conditions, and developing care plans to ensure optimal cardiac health outcomes. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with skills and expertise in advanced patient care, assessment and diagnostics
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an NP or PA in cardiology or internal medicine preferred. Will consider new graduate with strong background in EMS, as a Flight Nurse/Paramedic or critical care/emergency medicine.
  • Experience in a cardiology or electrophysiology setting is a preferred
  • Fluent Bilingual English and Spanish speaking REQUIRED
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) REQUIRED
  • DEA License REQUIRED
  • Knowledge of reading and interpretation of EKG’s and 12 Leads
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in working collaboratively in clinical settings and delivering patient education
  • Compassionate, patient-focused approach, with attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient evaluations, including history, physical examination, and review of diagnostic data
  • Manage follow-up visits for chronic cardiovascular conditions (Heart Failure, CAD, hypertension, etc.)
  • Order and interpret 12 Lead EKGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, and lab results
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and lifestyle modifications
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and office staff to ensure coordinated care
  • Mix of Clinic and Inpatient: Monday-Friday, with two weekends a month
  • Approximate patients per day: 25
  • No “on call” after 7pm

Pay: $100,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
