JOB TITLE: EXPERIENCED Physician Assistant – Spine Surgery
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The position of a Physician Assistant with Sonoran Spine is to assist the surgeon in the care of patients and fulfill the need as Physician Assistant performing selective medical services under the direction of the supervising physician.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Practice Administrator.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:
- Full time salaried position
- A typical workday is between 8:30 AM and 4:30/5:00 PM. PAs are expected to stay until the last patient is seen.
- Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients. Reviews patient records, interpreting and integrating data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed, including, but not limited to, x-ray, MRI, CT’s, injections, interventional pain management, physical therapy, and DME.
- Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Establishes presumptive diagnosis.
- Prepares electronic prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
- Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education.
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
- Maintains the strictest confidentiality.
- Surgical assist in the operating room with supervising provider 1-2 days per week. Typical cases include adult spine surgery.
- Consults with other staff as necessary
- Participates in designated call schedule including after hours/weekends and rounding on patients in the hospital
- Performs related work as required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of the professional medical practice and care to give and evaluate patient care.
- Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of EPIC EHR is preferred but not required.
- Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of medicine to provide on-going patient care.
- Skill in taking medical history, assessing medical condition, and interpreting findings.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, Physicians, and the public.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt, apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Graduation from an accredited Physician’s Assistant program.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants.
- CPR, BLS and ACLS certification

Pay: $125,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year
