We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic team at our substance abuse and behavioral health treatment facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in addiction medicine, behavioral health, or related fields and a strong commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to offer comprehensive treatment plans for individuals struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct comprehensive medical and psychiatric assessments for patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues.
  • Develop, implement, and manage individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications for opioid use disorder (MAT) and other substances, as appropriate.
  • Monitor and adjust medications, including buprenorphine, methadone, naloxone, and other prescribed treatments.
  • Provide counseling and therapeutic interventions, either directly or in collaboration with licensed therapists and counselors.
  • Perform physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and provide follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated, holistic care.
  • Educate patients and their families about substance use disorders, treatment options, and recovery strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with facility protocols, state regulations, and healthcare standards.
  • Participate in regular case reviews and treatment team meetings.
  • Support patients through crisis situations, providing appropriate referrals and resources.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) or Physician Assistant Studies (PA).
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice in Alaska.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), with a focus on family medicine, psychiatry, or addiction medicine preferred.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in the treatment of substance use disorders and mental health conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in detoxification, rehabilitation, and outpatient addiction treatment.
  • Certification in Addiction Medicine or Substance Abuse Counseling.
  • Experience working in a team-based, collaborative healthcare environment.
  • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities are a plus.
  • Empathy, patience, and a nonjudgmental approach to patient care.
  • Ability to manage a diverse patient population, including those with complex medical and psychiatric needs.
