We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full Time Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal care and demonstrate excellent technical skills in supporting veterinary professionals. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality pet care, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic. This position offers an engaging environment where animal handling, clinical support, and client communication are central to daily responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Provide compassionate animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during examinations and procedures.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments accurately following veterinary instructions while monitoring patient responses.
- Support pet owners with pet care advice, post-operative instructions, and general questions to promote ongoing animal health.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kennels, treatment areas, and laboratory spaces in accordance with aseptic techniques and safety standards.
- Perform laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing, and basic diagnostics to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage front desk duties including scheduling appointments, updating patient records, and facilitating effective communication between clients and veterinary staff.
- Assist with specialized animal care tasks such as animal catheterization, laboratory procedures, or equine handling when required.
Skills
- Veterinary assistant, technician experience or veterinary clinic experience demonstrating familiarity with clinical workflows.
- Strong animal handling skills including dog handling, restraint techniques, and understanding of animal physiology.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, medication administration protocols, and aseptic techniques essential for clinical support.
- Laboratory experience supporting diagnostic testing procedures critical for accurate patient assessment.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with pet owners, team members, and clients at the front desk.
