Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant Assignment Details Location: Lexington, Kentucky Provider Type: Physician Assistant Specialty: Cardiothoracic Surgery Practice Setting: Inpatient / Operating Room Coverage Type: Scheduled Day Coverage + Night and Weekend Call FTE: PRN EMR: Epic Compensation: Tier 1 24 Hour Call: $1480 per 24 hours Night Call: $815/night Hourly/Callback: $200/hr Tier 2 24 Hour Call: $1630 per 24 hours Night Call: $960/night Hourly/Callback: $210/hr Schedule Weekday Day Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM Weeknight Call: 7:00 PM-7:00 AM Weekend Coverage: 7:00 AM-7:00 AM, 24-Hour Shifts Call Requirement: Approximately 1-2 Call Days Per Week Weekend Call: Approximately 1 Weekend Per Month Current Coverage Dates November 26-30, 2026 December 18-28, 2026 January 29, 2027 February 11-15, 2027 April 3-11, 2027 May 11-28, 2027 Ongoing Dates To Be Determined Patient Population / Volume Inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery Patients Current Surgical Volume: Approximately 1-2 Surgeries Per Day Clinical Responsibilities Provide Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant Coverage First Assist in Cardiothoracic Surgical Procedures Provide Operating Room Support for Cardiothoracic Surgeons Provide Telemetry and ICU Patient Care Perform Inpatient Rounds Provide Weekend Procedural and Surgical Coverage Perform Vein Harvesting Perform Chest Tube Placement Required Procedures / Skills First Assist in CABG Procedures First Assist in Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR) First Assist in Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR) First Assist in Thoracotomy / Lung Resection Procedures Vein Harvesting Chest Tube Placement Cardiothoracic Surgical First Assist Skills Clinical Environment / Support Inpatient and Operating Room Setting Provides Support to Cardiothoracic Surgeons Epic EMR Requirements Board Certification – Required Kentucky License – Highly Preferred Candidates Willing to Obtain a Kentucky License May Be Considered ACLS – Required BLS – Required DEA Registration – Required Proficiency With Required Cardiothoracic Surgical Procedures – Required Clean Malpractice History – Preferred Submission Requirements Provider Availability Must Be Stated at Time of Name Clearance Must Be Able to Perform the Required Cardiothoracic Procedures Must Be Able to Complete Required Hospital Credentialing Credentialing Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 90-110 Days
