Medical Associates of Richmond is seeking a compassionate and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing outpatient medical practice.
Our practice focuses on outpatient pain management and interventional pain medicine, providing ongoing care to patients with chronic and acute pain conditions. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a PA interested in developing expertise in pain medicine while working closely with an experienced physician-led clinical team.
The position combines patient evaluation, medication management, diagnostic review, treatment planning, and coordination of interventional pain procedures.
Both experienced Physician Assistants and new graduates are encouraged to apply. Training and clinical mentorship will be provided.
We offer both full-time and part-time opportunities with flexible scheduling.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients with acute and chronic pain conditions.
- Perform patient histories, physical examinations, and follow-up evaluations.
- Develop and monitor individualized treatment plans.
- Manage medications in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations and practice policies.
- Review imaging, laboratory testing, diagnostic studies, and relevant medical records.
- Order appropriate laboratory testing, imaging studies, and other diagnostic evaluations.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans when clinically appropriate.
- Identify patients who may benefit from interventional pain procedures and coordinate treatment with the physician team.
- Perform or assist with appropriate in-office procedures based on training and experience.
- Opportunities may include training in procedures such as trigger point injections and joint injections.
- Educate patients regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and expectations for care.
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with physicians, Nurse Practitioners, clinical staff, and administrative team members.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and applicable clinical, regulatory, and practice standards.
Qualifications
- Virginia Physician Assistant license – required or pending.
- DEA registration – required, pending, or ability to obtain.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound clinical judgment and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative outpatient environment.
- Comfortable evaluating patients with chronic medical conditions and complex treatment plans.
- Commitment to compassionate and patient-centered medical care.
Preferred Experience
Prior clinical experience is helpful but not required.
Experience in any of the following may be beneficial:
- Pain management
- Interventional pain medicine
- Orthopedics
- Neurology
- Physical medicine and rehabilitation
- Primary care
- Internal medicine
- Emergency medicine
- Hospital medicine
- Other outpatient or specialty clinical settings
Experience with Practice Fusion or other EMR/EHR systems is also helpful.
New Graduates
New graduate Physician Assistants are encouraged to apply.
Prior pain-management experience is not required. Structured training and mentorship will be provided to help new providers develop the clinical knowledge and practical skills necessary to practice confidently in an outpatient pain-management environment.

Schedule
Flexible scheduling options are available for both full-time and part-time providers.

Pay: $65.00 – $75.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
