Full Job Description
**Position Summary**
The Urgent Care is currently seeking a qualified and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our clinical team. This position requires flexibility and a willingness to travel between our clinic locations across the Greater New Orleans area.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and motivated provider with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, walk-in clinic environment.
**Responsibilities**
* Provide direct patient care, including assessments, physical exams, evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment
* Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including x-rays, EKGs, and laboratory studies
* Perform common urgent care procedures such as laceration repair, incision and drainage, splinting, and wound care
* Prescribe appropriate medications and develop treatment plans consistent with current medical guidelines
* Accurately document all patient encounters and maintain timely electronic medical records
* Communicate effectively with patients regarding their diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
* Collaborate with supervising physicians and clinic teams to ensure continuity of care
* Rotate between multiple clinic locations as assigned
**Qualifications**
* Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
* Current Louisiana licensure as a PA or NP
* Certification by NCCPA (for PAs), or certification by ANCC or AANP (for NPs – FNP required)
* A minimum of two (2) years of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or primary care (three years preferred)
* Current BLS/CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
* Current DOT Certification (FMCSA Medical Examiner Certification) is a plus
* Active DEA registration and state prescriptive authority (or ability to obtain)
* Proficiency in minor procedures and interpreting diagnostic test results
* Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and patient engagement skills
* Spanish language proficiency is a plus
* Ability and willingness to commute to all The Urgent Care clinic locations as needed
**Preferred Competencies**
* Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and standard billing/coding practices
* Familiarity with EMR systems and digital documentation workflows
* Strong organizational and time-management skills
* Ability to work independently and within a collaborative clinical environment
* Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
