Senior Physician Assistant – Integrative Medicine & Integrative Oncology

OWM Integrative Wellness | Buffalo, New York

Our mission is simple:

Deliver highly personalized care that helps patients live longer, healthier, and more vibrant lives.

Position Overview

This is a senior clinical role designed for an experienced Physician Assistant who is capable of managing medically complex patients while working closely with our physician.

A significant portion of your practice will involve supporting patients with active cancer and those transitioning into remission by helping evaluate patients, organize complex clinical information, coordinate multidisciplinary care, and execute individualized physician-directed treatment plans.

In addition, you will manage selected general integrative medicine patients as part of our expanding practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced PA seeking greater clinical involvement, physician mentorship, and long-term professional growth.

Primary Responsibilities

You will:

  • Independently evaluate and manage new and established patients within your scope of practice.
  • Manage a busy outpatient schedule while maintaining exceptional quality of care.
  • Evaluate medically complex patients with multiple chronic conditions.
  • Review laboratory testing, imaging, oncology records, specialist consultations, and advanced diagnostics.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating physician-directed integrative oncology care.
  • Monitor patient progress and identify situations requiring physician involvement.
  • Coordinate care with oncologists, surgeons, primary care physicians, nurses, infusion staff, and other specialists.
  • Educate patients regarding medications, nutrition, supplementation, lifestyle interventions, and treatment expectations.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation and ensure consistent follow-up.
  • Participate in clinical case reviews and ongoing professional education.

Integrative Oncology Responsibilities

A major focus of this position will be supporting our growing Integrative Oncology and Cancer Remission programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the evaluation of patients undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, surgery, or targeted therapies.
  • Reviewing oncology treatment plans and medical records.
  • Assessing symptoms, treatment tolerance, nutritional status, and quality-of-life concerns.
  • Helping develop and coordinate physician-directed supportive care plans.
  • Monitoring laboratory findings and clinical response.
  • Coordinating supportive therapies around conventional oncology treatment schedules.
  • Supporting patients transitioning into remission and survivorship.
  • Helping implement long-term health optimization and recurrence-risk reduction strategies.
  • Collaborating with our infusion, hyperbaric, nursing, and administrative teams to ensure seamless patient care.

What Success Looks Like

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Independently manage a full outpatient schedule while maintaining high clinical standards.
  • Efficiently review extensive medical records and identify the information that matters most.
  • Present complex cases to the physician in a concise, organized, solution-oriented manner.
  • Exercise sound clinical judgment while recognizing when physician consultation is appropriate.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care across multiple providers and treatment services.
  • Build trust with patients facing complex and life-changing diagnoses.
  • Execute detailed treatment plans accurately and consistently.
  • Balance efficiency with compassion in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State.
  • DEA registration or eligibility.
  • Preferred: Five or more years of direct clinical experience managing adult patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage medically complex patients.
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Clinical Background

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Internal Medicine
  • Oncology
  • Family Medicine
  • Hospital Medicine

  • Urgent Care
  • Functional or Integrative Medicine
  • Complex Chronic Disease Management

Previous experience in integrative medicine is welcomed but not required. A strong conventional medical foundation, clinical maturity, and a passion for learning are equally important.

Exceptional candidates with fewer years of experience may be considered if they demonstrate outstanding clinical judgment, maturity, and the ability to independently manage complex patients.

Professional Development

This position offers direct physician mentorship and the opportunity to develop advanced expertise in:

  • Integrative Medicine
  • Integrative Oncology
  • Cancer Survivorship
  • Precision Medicine
  • Advanced Laboratory Interpretation
  • Clinical Nutrition
  • Hyperbaric Medicine
  • IV Nutritional Therapies
  • Regenerative Medicine
  • Longevity Medicine

Compensation

Salary Range: $120,000–$150,000 annually, based on demonstrated experience, clinical judgment, and independent practice ability.

The position includes a structured onboarding and clinical assessment period. Compensation progression is based on successful completion of onboarding milestones and demonstrated competency in managing patient volume, medically complex cases, and physician-directed treatment planning.

Comprehensive benefits include paid time off, CME allowance, malpractice coverage, licensing reimbursement, and continuing education support.

This Position Is Not for Everyone

You will likely thrive in this role if you:

  • Love learning and continual professional growth.
  • Enjoy solving complex clinical problems.
  • Think independently while collaborating effectively.
  • Are highly organized and accountable.
  • Appreciate direct feedback and high expectations.
