SOS PHYSIO is seeking a hardworking and diligent Physical Therapist Assistant to help our physical therapists provide treatment that improves patient mobility, relieves pain and prevents or lessens the physical disabilities of patients. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will be working alongside experienced physical therapists in a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide patients with the ability to exercise, receive instruction and experience therapeutic methods such as electrical stimulation, mechanical traction and ultrasound. A large part of your job as a Physical Therapist Assistant is to help make therapy sessions more productive, engaging and generally less stressful for both the patient and the physical therapist. Physical Therapist Assistant – Physical Therapy Assistant – PTA Must be Bi-lingual in English and Spanish Job Responsibilities As a Physical Therapist Assistant, one of your duties will be to record the patient’s responses to treatments and report the outcome of each treatment to the physical therapist. You will keep the treatment area clean and organized and instruct, motivate, safeguard and assist parents as they practice exercises and functional activities. Additional responsibilities include:
- Preparing for each patient’s therapy
- Integrating a Sports medicine approach to treatment
- Administer Manual therapy and mobilization techniques
- Being very familiar with the Plan of Care the physical therapist set in place for any given patient and, if need be, relaying any concerns about the Plan of Care
- Administering balance and muscle strength tests,
- Implementing specific therapeutic exercises to patients
Physical Therapist Assistant – Physical Therapy Assistant – PTA As a Physical Therapy Assistant you must be open to work with all categories of patients such as those with orthopedic or neurological disorders. It is imperative that you have excellent verbal and written communication skills with coworkers, patients and family members. You must also be compassionate, caring and truly want to help your patients achieve their maximum physical potential and level of independence. Additional requirements include:
- Being a graduate from an accredited PTA school and being PTA Certified
- Being a professional and ethical team player
- Being CPR certified
- Possessing basic knowledge in all the modalities
- Understanding how a goniometer and dynamometer operate
- Ability to assist in the lifting, pulling and/or pushing or patients
