Job Summary
Join our dynamic mental health team as a Part-Time Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). In this vital role, you will provide expert psychiatric care, including diagnosis, medication management, and psychotherapy, to diverse patient populations across outpatient and SAIOP settings.
Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Conduct psychiatric assessments and evaluations for clients enrolled in outpatient and SAIOP services.
- Provide medication management services for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Assess appropriateness and prescribe Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine products and other evidence-based medications.
- Coordinate care with clinical staff including licensed counselors, peer support specialists, and case management staff.
- Participate in multidisciplinary staffing and treatment team meetings as needed.6. Provide consultation and clinical guidance to staff regarding psychiatric and medication-related concerns.
- Ensure all documentation meets requirements for NC Medicaid, LME/MCOs (including Trillium and Partners), and CARF standards.
- Complete and maintain accurate clinical records including psychiatric evaluations, progress notes, medication logs, and treatment recommendations.
- Support development and implementation of integrated care services within SAIOP and outpatient programming.
- Assist with establishing and maintaining best practices related to MAT and co-occurring disorder treatment.
- Maintain compliance with CSI, APA/AANP standards, and all applicable regulatory bodies.
- Maintain positive working relationships with referral sources, community partners, and other treatment providers.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Psychiatrist (MD/DO):
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited institution. Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry preferred. Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions required.
OR
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP):
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health. Experience in substance use disorder treatment strongly preferred.
Experience in outpatient, community-based, or SAIOP/IOP settings preferred. Experience with Medicaid populations preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Active and unrestricted North Carolina license (MD/DO or PMHNP).
- Active DEA registration (required for prescribing controlled substances).
- X-waiver or equivalent training/authorization for buprenorphine prescribing preferred (if applicable under current federal guidelines).
- Valid Driver’s License including personal vehicle insurance coverage is required (if onsite services are provided).
- Must maintain proficiency in company sponsored training and certifications. The following are conditions of employment: CPR, first aid, NCI, and others as specified and/or required by company policies.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of NC Medicaid guidelines, LME/MCO processes, and documentation requirements preferred.
- Familiarity with 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
- Develop organizational and communication skills that foster teamwork.
Pay: $120.00 – $180.00 per hour
