Radiation Oncology Physician Assistant

Salary $115,00- $140,000 per year

Position Summary

The Radiation Oncology Physician Assistant (PA) provides specialized clinical care to patients undergoing radiation therapy within the field of Radiation Oncology. Working under the supervision of a radiation oncologist, the PA supports treatment planning, patient management, and follow-up care throughout the radiation treatment process.

Key Responsibilities

· Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including history and physical exams

· Assist in developing and implementing radiation treatment plans

· Order and interpret diagnostic tests (imaging, labs)

· Prepare patients for radiation therapy procedures

· Monitor patients during treatment and manage acute and chronic side effects (e.g., skin reactions, fatigue, pain)

· Provide patient education on radiation therapy, expected outcomes, and side effect management

· Conduct follow-up visits and survivorship care

· Document patient care accurately in electronic medical records (EMR)

· Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals

· Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research (if applicable)

Qualifications

· Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program

· Current PA license in the state of practice

· Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

· DEA license (if required for prescribing)

· Prior experience in oncology or radiation oncology preferred

· Skills & Competencies

· Knowledge of radiation therapy principles and oncology care

· Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills

· Excellent communication and patient education abilities

· Attention to detail and ability to manage complex treatment plans

· Compassion and emotional resilience

Outpatient radiation oncology clinic

Salary Range

Approximately $115,000 – $140,000+ annually, depending on experience

Job Type: Full-time
