Full Job Description
Summary
The Medical Assistant supports licensed medical staff by providing clinical, administrative, and patient care services in a residential healthcare setting. Responsibilities include assisting with patient intake, recording medical histories, taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, administering medications as directed, maintaining medical records, and supporting daily clinic operations. The MA works closely with healthcare providers to ensure quality patient care while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain patient medical and substance abuse histories and record vital signs
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during visits
- Administer medications and coordinate prescription refills as directed
- Document patient care, treatments, and test results accurately
- Educate patients on medications, diet, and health-related instructions
- Maintain medical supplies, equipment, and inventory
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards
- Assist with administrative tasks including scheduling, billing, and insurance forms
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Must possess a valid State Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification
- FBI and Department of Justice fingerprint clearance
- Negative TB test and drug screening
- Must be insurable at standard automobile rates
License
- Valid California driver’s license required
