Job Overview
The Physician Assistant (PA) is a clinical provider responsible for supervising hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) treatments and ensuring patient safety within the hyperbaric medicine program. The PA works collaboratively with the Center Medical Director, hyperbaric technologists, nurses, and other clinical staff to provide safe, effective, and compliant hyperbaric care.
The Physician Assistant is responsible for maintaining strict adherence to hyperbaric safety standards, protocols, policies, and procedures. The PA will perform duties commonly associated with a supervising provider of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, including patient assessment, treatment oversight, emergency response readiness, and clinical documentation.
APEX will provide hyperbaric supervision training if the PA is not already trained in hyperbaric medicine.
Responsibilities
- Supervises hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments in accordance with established safety standards, protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Performs patient assessments and determines patient readiness for hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatment.
- Monitors patients during hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments and responds appropriately to clinical changes or emergencies.
- Collaborates with the Center Medical Director regarding patient care plans, treatment protocols, and clinical concerns.
- Ensures compliance with hyperbaric safety requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
- Works closely with hyperbaric technologists and clinical staff to maintain a safe treatment environment.
- Identifies and reports unsafe practices, equipment concerns, or safety hazards immediately.
- Complies with infection control policies, including hand hygiene and isolation precautions.
- Maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation within the medical record.
- Participates in emergency preparedness activities and responds to hyperbaric emergencies as required.
- Provides clinical oversight and support to staff during hyperbaric operations.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and follows all HIPAA and compliance regulations.
- Performs other clinical duties related to hyperbaric oxygen therapy as assigned and approved by the Medical Director and APEX.

Requirements
- Active Physician Assistant license in the applicable state.
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
- Previous healthcare experience in an outpatient or ambulatory clinical setting preferred.
- Experience or knowledge of hyperbaric oxygen therapy preferred.
- Ability to complete hyperbaric medicine training as required by APEX.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulatory and safety standards.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians, nurses, technologists, and clinical staff.
Pay: $115,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year
