Description:
Latham & Watkins, CA – Temporary coverage for vacation, sick, and emergency leave for NP/PA at the wellness center in Los Angeles, CA.
Specific duties & responsibilities:
- Provide on-site services forty (40) hours per week at the Latham & Watkins clinic in Los Angeles, CA.
- Triage and treat, as appropriate, minor work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Dispense over-the-counter and prescription medications in accordance with pre-established standing orders to employees with minor work-related and non-work-related concerns (back pain, headache, and pharyngitis).
- Provide on-site specimen/lab collection for employees presenting lab orders from their PCP.
- Perform COVID testing and report results to the state.
- Perform urine drug screening and breath alcohol testing in accordance with company protocol.
- Provide on-site assessment for strep pharyngitis, UTI, influenza, hyperglycemia, and hypoglycemia.
- Provide support and case management for both work-related and non-work-related conditions for the purposes of reducing illness and absenteeism.
- Coordinate second opinions for employees absent due to workers’ compensation or disability, as necessary in adherence with company protocols.
- Coordinate annual seasonal influenza vaccination program.
- Coordinate, plan, and deliver monthly health education seminars and general wellness events.
- Provide referrals for PepsiCo employees who need the attention of a primary care physician or specialist in adherence to company protocols.
- Perform on-site physical assessments (DOT, return to work, work-related injuries) as required by PepsiCo.
- Provide on-site patient education regarding illnesses, medications, treatments, etc.
- Work collaboratively with patients and their PCP/Specialist to facilitate early diagnosis and management of acute and chronic health problems.
- Administrative services provided to PepsiCo include:
o Maintain and revise, as needed, standardized procedures, protocols, and standing orders.
o Maintain adequate clinical supplies.
o Maintain Letter of Permit Exception with the California Department of Health/CLIA required for lab testing provided on-site.
o Maintain patient medical records.
- Work collaboratively with the Benefits and Safety teams:
o To coordinate and plan health and wellness events and initiatives;
o To manage workers’ compensation claims;
o To expand clinic services and reach.
- Provide crisis management/intervention, as needed.
- Provide general medical advice to the Latham & Watkins Human Resources and Safety/Risk Management departments.
- Ensure the provision of prompt, appropriate clinical care to all patients in accordance with Latham & Watkins and Johns Hopkins University protocols, State regulations, and professional standards.
- Develop relationships with clinical providers in the area to provide backup clinical care.
- Ensure timely and appropriate problem resolution and follow-up to
PepsiCo employees as required.
- Ensure all patients receive prompt, courteous, friendly, and professional attention to their needs and requests.
- Ensure Latham & Watkins onsite clinic facilities are neat, clean, and attractive.
- Develop and implement new administrative policies and procedures as needed to ensure the smooth operation of Latham & Watkins onsite clinics.
- Conduct yourself in an exemplary fashion to achieve goals.
- Ensure timely and appropriate problem resolution and follow-up with Latham & Watkins employees as required.
Minimum qualifications (mandatory):
1. Successful completion of an approved Physician Assistant Program.
2. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner Program.
3. Registered/licensed by the State of California Board of Physicians
4. National Board Certification
5. Minimum twelve months of related experience (adult medicine).
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in Occupational Medicine, Workers’ Compensation, and DOT exams.
Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Analytical ability necessary to evaluate and determine the health status of the patient and implement proper care;
- Interpersonal skills necessary to interview, teach, and counsel patients and interact with clients/employers,
- A comprehensive understanding of outpatient adult medicine, patient care procedures, medical protocols, and testing procedures is necessary.
Technical qualifications or specialized certifications:
DOT Medical Examiner preferred.
Certified Urine Drug Screen Collector preferred
Certified Breath Alcohol Technician preferred
