Job Description Summary:
The full-time faculty member within the Department of Occupational Therapy Education (OTE) will teach within the professional and post-professional programs. In addition, this individual will be responsible for activities that contribute to the program and department’s mission and success, ensuring alignment with the University’s mission and strategic plan as it pertains to teaching, research, scholarly contributions, and service.

Job Duties

Maintain contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas.

Develop, revise, and teach in the OTE department that is aligned with the standards for accreditation and the demands/changes of the profession including multi-cultural dimensions within the curriculum.

Foster advanced and innovative teaching methods (e.g., team teaching, interprofessional education); coaching and mentoring students.

Participate in scholarly activity within contemporary expertise.

Provide service responsibilities as assigned within the School of Health Professions (SHP) and University committees; promote the SHP and KUMC mission and vision; participate in professional local/state/and national committees and/or elected positions.

Engage in interprofessional teaching, research, and service within the department, school, university, and community.

Assist the Department Chair, entry-level Program Director and OT faculty in maintaining accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) and remaining complaint with the ACOTE Standards for Professional Education.

Actively participate in recruiting, admitting, advising and mentoring students.

Participate in faculty practice as warranted

Required Qualifications
Education: Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy or related field.
This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
Certifications/Licensures: Licensed (or eligible) and in good standing as an Occupational Therapist in Kansas.
Work Experience:

Clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with occupational therapy education and teaching students at the doctoral level.

Evidence of scholarship in education, occupational therapy, or related field.
