Description
American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with strong orthopedic, neurological, and general surgery skills for a Level I Trauma OR position at an acute care teaching hospital in southwest Virginia.

- 703-bed acute care teaching and Magnet-designated hospital featuring a Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatrics) serving southwest Virginia
- Large OR department with 25 suites offering a broad range of surgical services including general, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, gynecology, oncology, robotic, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, and sports medicine
- Patient population spans all age groups including neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, and geriatrics
- Specialized equipment in use includes ROSA robot, Si and Xi daVinci robots, Stealth navigation, O-Arm, and HIPEC
- Schedule is 3×12-hour shifts, 11:00 AM–11:00 PM, with a weekend rotation and on-call rotation shared with staff
- Holiday coverage is required — at least one holiday must be worked per 13-week contract
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of OR tech/surgical tech experience with demonstrated proficiency in general, orthopedic (total joints), and neurological surgery — all three areas required
- BLS certification required
- NBSTSA, NCCT, or military OR Tech certification accepted
- Virginia state license required if applicable; travelers holding an out-of-state license must obtain a VA state license, and a 90-day authorization will be required to work while the VA license is being processed
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of driver’s license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- Experience with large abdominal, craniotomy, and orthopedic trauma cases is highly preferred
- Robotic surgical training is highly preferred
