Practice Overview

South Puget Sound Neurology and Integrative Headache Center is a headache‑predominant specialty clinic serving patients throughout the South Puget Sound region. Our practice is grounded in compassionate, whole‑person care, recognizing that patients with chronic migraine and headache disorders often arrive after years of unmet needs.

We prioritize listening, continuity, and thoughtful clinical decision‑making. Patients are treated as individuals—not as diagnoses or productivity targets. Our model allows providers the time and support needed to deliver meaningful, evidence‑based, and integrative headache care.

In addition to migraine and complex headache disorders, we also care for a select population of patients with dystonia and related movement disorders, particularly those requiring therapeutic toxin injections.

The clinic is currently physician‑owned and independent. As we grow, we are thoughtfully exploring the evolution to a multi‑physician ownership structure while remaining committed to physician‑led care.

The Opportunity
We are seeking either a Neurologist (MD/DO) or a Nurse Practitioner with interest in headache medicine to join our collaborative outpatient practice. This role offers specialty depth, procedural care, and optional involvement in research and mentorship.

This position is well suited for clinicians who value:

  • Compassionate, patient‑centered headache care
  • Outpatient practice with therapeutic toxin procedures
  • Longitudinal relationships and continuity
  • Sustainable clinical workloads
  • Teaching, mentorship, or research involvement

Clinical Focus

  • Chronic migraine and complex headache disorders
  • Therapeutic toxin injections for migraine and dystonia
  • Longitudinal specialty care and treatment optimization

Neurologist (MD/DO)

  • Lead new patient consultations and complex headache evaluations
  • Perform therapeutic toxin injections
  • Manage longitudinal specialty cases
  • Collaborate with APPs practicing at top of license
  • Participate in limited, shared call
  • No inpatient service or hospital rounding

Nurse Practitioner

  • Independently manage a panel of headache patients
  • Perform Botox and other neurotoxin treatments (training available)
  • Provide follow‑up care, patient education, and treatment refinement
  • Participate in shared, limited call

Research, Teaching & Mentorship
Our clinic participates in select clinical research initiatives aligned with headache and migraine care. Research involvement is optional and structured to support—not detract from—clinical practice.

Opportunities may include:

  • Industry‑sponsored headache and migraine trials
  • Integration of emerging therapies

In addition, we are committed to clinical education and mentorship, including:

  • DNP student clinical rotations
  • Mentorship for Nurse Practitioners and early‑career clinicians
  • Teaching opportunities within a specialty outpatient setting and to the community

Providers may engage in teaching, mentorship and research at levels aligned with their interests.

Practice Model & Schedule

  • Outpatient‑only specialty neurology practice
  • Headache‑focused, with select dystonia patients
  • Four‑day clinical workweek typical
  • Five‑day schedules available based on clinical, research, or teaching interests
  • Limited, shared call
  • No nights or weekends
  • Dedicated administrative, scheduling, prior‑authorization, and research support

Compensation
Compensation is transparent and aligned with clinical work, not medication cost or volume pressure.

Neurologist (MD/DO):

  • Base salary starting around $280,000
  • Structured wRVU‑based incentives
  • Pathway to $300,000+ with sustainable productivity
  • Benefits, CME, malpractice coverage, and paid time off included

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Competitive specialty‑level base salary starting at $130,000
  • Productivity incentives reflective of procedural and clinical contribution based on wRVU.
  • Benefits, CME, malpractice coverage, and paid time off included

Research may be compensated when applicable.

Long‑Term Practice Vision
South Puget Sound Neurology and Integrative Headache Center values long‑term physician and provider alignment. The practice is physician‑owned and exploring the potential evolution to a multi‑physician ownership model as the clinic grows.

While this is an employed position, physicians aligned with the practice’s mission and interested in leadership may have future opportunities for ownership participation if and when the structure evolves.

Qualifications

  • Neurologist: MD or DO, board‑eligible or board‑certified in Neurology
  • Nurse Practitioner: FNP or AGNP with Washington licensure
  • Headache or movement disorder experience preferred but not required
  • Interest in procedural headache care
  • Commitment to compassionate, patient‑centered practice

Location
Tacoma offers access to the Puget Sound, Mount Rainier, and the greater Pacific Northwest, with a lower cost of living and less congestion than Seattle.
