Company Overview:

Children’s Medical Center, Inc. is dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare for infants, children, and adolescents in the Middletown area. Children’s Medical Center, Inc. is a division of CareCloud Practice Management a subsidiary of CareCloud Inc.

Statement of Purpose: To provide safe cost-effective care through the health care experience according to established standards, utilizing the nursing process and the medical model.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Primary Function

Physician Assistants provide comprehensive health care to patients through assessment, diagnosis, management, evaluation, health promotion, and anticipatory guidance.

The Physician Assistant synthesizes theoretical, scientific, and contemporary clinical knowledge for assessment and management of both health and illness status.

Physician Assistants practice in accordance with state licensure and regulatory mechanisms.

2. Job Functions and Responsibilities

A) Independently examines, evaluates, and recommends treatment for patients using approved standardized process protocols under the supervision of a physician

B) Process of Care/Assessment and Diagnosis:

  • Obtains a comprehensive health and medical history
  • Performs physical examination based on age and history
  • Orders and interprets age appropriate and condition specific screening tests, laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures
  • Systematically evaluates findings to formulate a differential diagnosis
  • Consults with other health care providers as necessary

C) Interventions:

  • Provides comprehensive health plans by teaching and counseling patients and families about growth and development, health promotion, illness management plans, and anticipatory guidance
  • Treats common acute illnesses and chronic conditions within the scope of nurse practitioners’ practice and standard protocols
  • Prescribes/orders appropriate pharmacological agents (within limits of state – legislated prescriptive authority)
  • Provides for appropriate follow-up care
  • Identifies and coordinates access to appropriate community resources
  • Evaluates patient response to treatment and modifies plan of care as indicated
  • Provides for patient comfort and safety
  • Documents plan of care and findings in patient medical record

D) Evaluation:

  • Monitors and evaluates accuracy of diagnosis and effectiveness of prescribed treatment plan
  • Modifies intervention based on effectiveness, available evidence-based practice guidelines, and individual patient/family needs
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement process to assure provision of quality care

E) Professional Accountability:

  • Demonstrates practice consistent with legal standards in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Maintains active membership in professional organizations
  • Maintains clinical competency, professional skills, and knowledge through formal continuing education programs and independent learning activities
  • Maintains eligibility for national and/or state certification programs

F) Additional Responsibilities:

  • After hours answering service on-call rotation with all providers.
  • Hospital staffing for newborn assessments required.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and regulatory agencies rules and regulations
  • Establish and maintain courteous, cooperative relationships with staff, volunteers and the public
  • Participates in all safety programs which may include assignments to an emergency response team
  • Attends general staff and department specific staff meetings, in-services, education, and training
  • Provides supervision for health care personnel as assigned
  • Participates in leadership or committee activities as assigned
  • Participates in orientation and development of students and/or new staff as assigned

Minimum Requirements/Work Experience

Two years of experience as a pediatric Physician Assistant preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certification

Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Ohio

Current license to furnish medications in the state of Ohio

ALS/BLS certification required
