Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and clinically skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our inpatient nephrology team. This role involves daily hospital rounding in collaboration with a supervising physician, providing comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic kidney conditions. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment, has strong clinical judgment, and is committed to high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily hospital rounds alongside the supervising nephrologist
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with nephrology-related conditions, including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, electrolyte imbalances, and dialysis-related issues
- Perform detailed patient assessments, including history and physical exams
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the physician
- Order, interpret, and follow up on laboratory tests and diagnostic studies
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Document all patient interactions and care plans accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in discharge planning and patient education
Schedule:
- Full-time inpatient position
- Rotating schedule including 1 in every 3 weekends
- Occasional holiday coverage as required
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current certification by the NCCPA
- Active and unrestricted state PA license (or eligibility to obtain)
- Prior experience in nephrology, internal medicine, or hospital medicine preferred
- Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-based care model
