Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Operating Room Circulating Nurse, where your expertise will play a vital role in delivering exceptional surgical care. In this energetic and fast-paced position, you will coordinate and support surgical procedures by ensuring a sterile environment, managing patient safety, and facilitating seamless communication among the surgical team. Your dedication will help optimize patient outcomes and uphold the highest standards of aseptic technique and clinical excellence.

Duties

  • Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments are available and properly sterilized for each procedure.
  • Act as the central point of communication during surgeries, coordinating between surgeons, anesthesiologists, scrub nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Monitor patient status throughout the procedure by assessing vital signs, responding to changes, and collaborating with anesthesia teams for airway management and sedation adjustments.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures, to prevent surgical site infections.
  • Document all aspects of patient care accurately in eClinicalWorks, including intraoperative observations, medication administration, and procedural details.
  • Assist with specimen collection and processing for laboratory analysis while ensuring proper labeling and handling according to hospital standards.
  • Support post-operative care by ensuring proper transfer of patients to recovery areas, providing handoff reports that include intraoperative findings and patient status.

Skills

  • Proven experience working in an operating room environment with strong knowledge of OR procedures and sterile techniques.
  • Familiarity with eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in high-stakes situations.
  • Skilled in patient assessment, vital signs monitoring, and airway management during complex procedures.
  • Knowledge of specialized surgical areas including ophthalmology, cardiology (catheterization), neurology (CT scans), or trauma medicine is highly desirable.
  • Experience with advanced nursing skills such as suturing, IV infusion, catheter care, phlebotomy, and medication administration.
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices, HIPAA regulations, and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe surgical environment. Join us in making a difference through compassionate patient care!
