Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and updating electronic health records (EHR systems).
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
- Support physicians with clinical tasks like administering medications, performing basic X-ray imaging, or assisting during minor procedures in outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Manage medical documentation with precision, including ICD coding for diagnoses and recording procedural details.
- Facilitate patient flow by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and coordinating follow-up care.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to safety protocols in various settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Geriatrics clinics.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology and human anatomy to assist effectively during examinations and procedures.
- Experience working in hospital environments, including Level II trauma centers or Level I trauma centers, with familiarity in emergency medicine protocols.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and ICD coding to ensure accurate documentation and billing processes.
- Skilled in using EHR systems for data entry, appointment scheduling, and patient record management.
- Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) certification to respond confidently during emergencies.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or medical-surgical patients.
- Experience with intake procedures, vital signs collection, medication administration, and X-ray support in outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Familiarity with clinic operations across specialties such as dermatology, internal medicine, urgent care, or hospital medicine is highly desirable.
