Job Overview
Our busy, progressive companion animal hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team! This is a great opportunity for someone with some veterinary or animal experience who wants to continue building their hands-on skills in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
Schedule
- Full-time
- 5, 8-hour shifts (with potential for 4, 10-hour shifts after training period)
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with exams and treatments
- Safely handle and restrain patients
- Help prepare patients for surgery and dental procedures
- Monitor patients and assist with procedures
- Administer medications as directed
- Collect and process lab samples
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Keep exam rooms and treatment areas clean and organized
- Communicate with clients about patient care and follow-up
Qualifications
- Some experience working with animals required (veterinary clinic, kennel, shelter, or similar)
- Comfortable handling animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Willingness to learn and grow in a clinical setting
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment
Nice to have (but not required):
- Veterinary clinic experience
- Anesthesia monitoring experience
- Familiarity with Avimark or in-house lab equipment
