Position Overview

A hospital in Brooklyn, NY is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This role supports high-acuity patients in a fast-paced hospital environment, providing advanced procedural care and collaborating closely with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate has strong cardiothoracic or critical care experience, is comfortable with invasive bedside procedures, and thrives in a rotating day/night schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform bedside procedures including:
• Arterial line (A-line) placement
• Central line insertion
• Chest tube removal
• Swan-Ganz catheter placement
• Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) removal
• Assist in the management of pre- and post-operative cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Conduct patient assessments, develop care plans, and monitor clinical progress
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and interdisciplinary teams
• Respond to changes in patient condition and provide timely interventions
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR

Qualifications

• Active New York State NP or PA license required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery, ICU, or critical care required
• Strong procedural skills with invasive line placement and removals
• Ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced hospital setting
• Flexibility to work rotating days, nights, and weekends
