Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up dental materials to ensure efficient patient care.
- Assist dentist during various procedures including restorations, extractions, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners while adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history documentation to support comprehensive patient assessments.
- Provide excellent chairside assistance with aseptic techniques and maintain a sterile environment throughout procedures.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation and records.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry for improved efficiency.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding to ensure precise communication and documentation.
- Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging devices.
- Familiarity with dental software platforms like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing patient information seamlessly.
- Knowledge of infection control standards and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and understand pediatric dentistry principles for caring for young patients.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and hygienists.
