Administrative Medical Assistant (Behavioral Health)

Position Overview

We are seeking a professional, reliable, and patient-focused Administrative Medical Assistant to join our in-office Lakeland team. This is a fully in-person (non-remote) position that is essential to our front office operations and plays a key role in creating a positive and seamless patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet, welcome, and check in patients with professionalism and warmth
  • Schedule appointments and manage provider calendars efficiently
  • Confirm insurance eligibility and benefits verified by the insurance verification department
  • Answer, screen, and route incoming calls, emails, and patient inquiries
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in EMR systems
  • Scan, upload, and organize medical documentation
  • Collect co-pays and payments; reconcile daily transactions
  • Assist with referrals and records requests
  • Coordinate with providers to ensure timely completion of documentation
  • Take basic vitals (weight, height, blood pressure)
  • Maintain front desk organization and office supply inventory
  • Support compliance documentation and administrative needs as assigned
  • Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree or certification in Medical Administration preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical or behavioral health office preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, HIPAA compliance, and front office workflows
  • Experience with EMR systems (preferred)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment
