Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting comprehensive medical histories and updating electronic health record (EHR) systems accurately.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to support diagnostic processes.
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures, including dermatology assessments, outpatient visits, or emergency medicine interventions.
- Support physicians and nurses by administering medications, providing basic life support (BLS), and assisting with procedures like X-ray imaging or surgical preparations in the OR.
- Manage medical documentation with precision, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure accurate billing and record keeping.
- Conduct patient education on treatment plans, medication administration, and post-care instructions across various specialties including geriatrics, internal medicine, and PICU settings.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to safety protocols in hospital medicine, urgent care, or Level I/II trauma center settings.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited program is required.
- Proven experience working in hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or emergency departments; Level I/II trauma center experience is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to inpatient and outpatient care environments.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology essential for accurate documentation and communication.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as X-ray assistance, medication administration, intake procedures, and vital signs collection efficiently.
- Experience supporting diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics (PICU), or surgical patients in medical-surgical units or OR settings preferred.
