Physician Assistant – Occupational Medicine

We are seeking a highly motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing occupational healthcare practice and fully utilize their clinical training in a collaborative team environment.
Position Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Supervising Physician, the Physician Assistant applies the principles, methods, and techniques of medicine to provide comprehensive occupational medicine and urgent care services. This role includes the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses, as well as select non-occupational urgent care conditions, consistent with the PA’s training, experience, and delegated authority.
The Physician Assistant works closely with physicians, clinical staff, and administration to ensure high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient clinic operations while contributing to continuous improvement in service delivery.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide medical evaluation and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses and non-occupational urgent care conditions, within the scope of training, licensure, and delegation by the Supervising Physician
- Perform occupational health services including pre-employment/post-offer exams, fitness-for-duty evaluations, return-to-work assessments, and medical surveillance exams, as delegated
- Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans consistent with occupational medicine best practices
- Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state law, clinic protocols, and supervising physician guidelines
- Accurately document all patient encounters in the electronic medical record in compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and clinical standards
- Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, and administrative staff to ensure coordinated, efficient, and patient-centered care
- Assist management in identifying, analyzing, and resolving clinical or operational issues impacting patient flow, outcomes, or service quality
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing clinical methods, workflows, and procedures, and recommend improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and profitability
- Support workers’ compensation case management, including appropriate communication of work status, restrictions, and clinical findings
- Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as ProActive corporate policies and procedures
- Participate in quality assurance activities and assist in addressing clinical concerns or medical issues as they arise
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company standards
- Communicate staff suggestions, concerns, or operational issues to the Medical Director or leadership team
- Assist clinical staff in understanding and complying with policies, procedures, and best practices
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain required certifications, licensure, and professional affiliations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of medical practices related to occupational injuries, urgent care, and workplace health
- Working knowledge of occupational health regulations, medical policies, and clinical procedures
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
- Proficiency in medical documentation and electronic health record systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment
Education, Licensure & Certification
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Active, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of employment
- National certification through NCCPA
- Current BLS/ACLS certification (as required by clinic policy)
- Ability to obtain and maintain any additional certifications required for occupational medicine services (e.g., DOT exams, NRCME, if applicable)
Experience
- Prior experience in Occupational Medicine, Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice preferred
- Experience treating work-related injuries and familiarity with workers’ compensation environments strongly preferred

Pay: $90.00 – $100.00 per hour
