Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – Occupational Medicine / Workers’ Compensation – Portland & Beaverton, OR

Pay: $135,000 – $155,000 per year

Job Overview

Pacific Northwest Spine and Joint Physicians is hiring an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with a strong background in managing spine and joint conditions (musculoskeletal focused). Focus on patients who have been injured in motor vehicle accident (MVA) and/or work injuries.

This position is based in Portland and Beaverton, Oregon, serving injured workers and injured motorists. We are a physician-owned independent practice specializing in work injuries, personal injury, spine/joint care.

Full-time preferred (4–5 weekdays). Part-time (minimum 30 hours/week) considered.

Primary Responsibilities Occupational Medicine / Workers’ Compensation Care

· Perform new patient evaluations for work-related injuries

· Manage ongoing Workers’ Compensation claims

· Develop and document activity prescriptions and return-to-work plans

· Complete Oregon Workers’ Compensation documentation accurately and efficiently

· Communicate with employers, insurers, and case managers when appropriate

· Maintain clear, defensible medical documentation for industrial injury cases

Personal Injury / Motor Vehicle Collision Care

· Evaluate and manage MVC-related musculoskeletal injuries

· Coordinate imaging, therapy, and specialty referrals

· Maintain high-level documentation appropriate for medicolegal cases

Musculoskeletal & Spine Management

· Diagnose and manage spine and joint conditions

· Order imaging (MRI, CT, X-ray) as appropriate

· Prescribe physical therapy, chiropractic, and massage therapy

· Order durable medical equipment

· Prescribe medications (no chronic opioid management)

Interventional Spine & Joint Coordination

· Understand indications for interventional spine and joint procedures

· Order appropriate interventional procedures (e.g., epidural steroid injections, joint injections)

· Review procedural reports and imaging

· Follow up on patient response to injections and procedures

· Adjust treatment plans based on outcomes

Additional Responsibilities

· Complete all charting and billing within 2 business days

· Participate in team meetings

· Assist with implementation of clinical workflows and safety protocols

· Respond to patient messages and clinical questions with staff support

· Participate in occasional peer-to-peer reviews (rare)

Required Experience

· Direct experience in Occupational Medicine or Work Health (preferred)

· Working knowledge of the Oregon Workers’ Compensation system (preferred)

· Experience managing musculoskeletal injuries

· Experience managing activity restrictions and return-to-work documentation

· Strong documentation skills

Qualifications

· Graduate of approved Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program

· Oregon state license in good standing

· DEA license (or ability to obtain)

· Experience with EMR systems

· Strong organizational skills

· Excellent patient communication and customer service skills

· Ability to work independently within a physician-led model

Compensation

$135,000 – $155,000 annuallyCompensation dependent on experience and patient volume per dayProductivity bonus available
