The University of Toledo Physicians (UTP) is currently seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic Emergency Department team. In this role, the NP or PA will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while collaborating closely with Emergency Medicine physicians, residents, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members. Responsibilities include evaluating, diagnosing, and managing patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries in a fast-paced emergency setting.
Position Highlights:
- Perform history and physical examinations
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
- Perform procedures within scope of practice
- Document patient encounters in the electronic medical record
- Support patient flow and quality improvement initiatives
- Work scheduled ED shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program; Master’s Degree in appropriate field
- Certifications/Licensure:
- State of Ohio Licensure-Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant
- National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- COA from the Board of Nursing to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Ohio State Medical Board to practice as a Physician Assistant
- BLS Certified
- Eligible to obtain and/or maintain Certificate to Prescribe/DEA

- Tolerate busy environment that requires constant interaction with patients, employees, students,
- residents, and physicians.
- Requires prolonged walking and standing. Occasional lifting of patients sometimes over 200 pounds.
- Occasional carrying of items weighing up to 30 pounds required.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range and manual dexterity.
- Requires the ability to operate various types of office equipment, including but not limited to: Personal computer, fax machines, copiers, telephones
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment on a daily basis.
- Must be able to work effectively both with internal and external customers in stressful situations.
