Job OverviewWe are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC / Psych ARNP) or Psychiatric Physician Assistant to join our multidisciplinary mental health team to start 2-3 days a week. This role is ideal for an NP who already has a full-time position and is looking to earn extra income in a structured, supportive clinical environment or a NP that is looking to start off part-time and grow with the practice. In this vital role, you will deliver comprehensive psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, medication management for diverse patient populations of primarily adults in outpatient office setting and in psychiatric hospital setting. Your expertise will help improve mental health outcomes and support recovery in a variety of settings. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives through energetic engagement and expert clinical practice.
Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and physiological evaluations to inform diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications in accordance with best practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Coordinate with the supervising psychiatrist as needed.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) system, AdvancedMD, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, medication use, lifestyle modifications, and community resources.
- Stay current with advancements in psychopharmacology, trauma-informed care, and emerging mental health therapies to provide cutting-edge treatment options.
Requirements
- Current certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) or equivalent advanced practice license (Psych ARNP).
- Valid state licensure to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse with prescriptive authority.
- Current DEA license for Florida.
- Demonstrated experience in outpatient behavioral health settings with proficiency in patient assessment, medication management, and psychotherapy modalities.
- Familiarity with computers and EHR systems for accurate documentation.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology principles including DSM-V and ICD10 Diagnoses.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and fast paced environments.
- Ability to work independently within a structured support system.
- Strong communication, charting, and organizational skills
- Skills in medical documentation, medication administration—including injections, and basic life support certification.
- Additional skills such as providing telehealth experience.
