OverviewJoin our dynamic healthcare team as a Psychiatric Physician Assistant or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, where you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive mental health services. Responsibilities
- Perform thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status exams, and diagnostic assessments using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems such as Epic and eClinicalWorks.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy, and other modalities like botulinum toxin treatment and esthetic laser procedures when appropriate.
- Prescribe medications responsibly, including injections, IV infusions, and other forms of medication administration, ensuring adherence to HIPAA guidelines and CPT coding standards.
- Manage acute and chronic psychiatric conditions across various settings such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospice & palliative care environments, and emergency rooms with Level I & II trauma center experience.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, case managers, and specialists in areas like geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, infectious disease care, and occupational health to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Conduct triage assessments for urgent mental health needs and participate in discharge planning, utilization review, and case management activities.
- Engage in clinical research projects or quality improvement initiatives aimed at advancing psychiatric practices and patient outcomes.
Skills
- Extensive experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks; familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding standards is essential.
- Proficiency in psychopharmacology including medication management for diverse populations such as children (pediatrics), seniors (geriatrics), or patients with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Skilled in performing procedures like suturing, spinal taps, dermal fillers, Botox treatments (botulinum toxin), catheterization, phlebotomy, sterile processing techniques, and basic life support (BLS).
- Strong background in managing acute pain through pain management protocols or ICU experience; knowledge of airway management and ventilator support is advantageous.
- Ability to conduct physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations involving laboratory testing or medical imaging; familiarity with sonography or gastroscopy is a plus.
- Experience working within hospital medicine settings such as trauma centers (Level I & II), neonatal intensive care units (NICU), pediatric intensive care units (PICU), or emergency medicine environments.
- Excellent patient assessment skills with a focus on physiology knowledge; capable of working with diverse populations including those requiring hospice & palliative medicine or post-acute care services. Pay: $175,000.00 – $215,000.00 per year
