Public Works ROW Tech IPay Grade: 2Employment Status: Full-TimeFLSA Status: Non-ExemptDirect Supervisor: ROW LeadSupervisory Responsibility: N/APrimary Work Location: Outdoor working environmentCertification: N/A

Job Summary:Performs maintenance or repairs on City of Ozark streets, right of ways, drainage ways, and signage. Cemetery care and maintenance

Supervision:Under the direct supervision of the ROW Lead & Operations Manager-Infrastructure and under the general supervision of the Public Works Director.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operates mowers, trimmers, tools and equipment as needed to perform assigned duties including Cemetary care and maintenance.
  • Fabricates and installs city street signage.
  • Acts as flag operator on crew operations to control the flow of traffic on street operations.
  • Help clean debris from areas of work being performed.
  • Works Cooperatively with various departments as needed and directed.
  • Performs all other related work as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge:Dirt work, machinery labor tools, activities, practices and principles of street trees, facilities and grounds maintenance.All ROW signs and general equipment maintenance programs.

Abilities:Ability to assist and assign new safety skills and guidelines.Ability to show technicians the operations and guidelines of right of ways, cleanup procedures, maintenance procedures or equipment.Ability to implement procedures of Ice control and clean up.Ability to update time deadlines on construction projects.Ability to operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools.Ability to make repairs and adjustments to equipment.Ability to perform basic math calculations, follow safety precautions and procedures.Ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions, perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under bad weather conditions.Should be available for weekends, holidays or after hours to assist with other duties.Ability to read and interpret maps, gauges and recording devices.Ability to keep excellent records and logs.Ability to work effectively with mechanical equipment, ability to recognize equipment failure and to act in an emergency.Ability to maintain an appropriate level of confidentiality for both written and verbal information. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of others.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and the general public.Ability to work with other various municipal departments.

Education & Experience:High School or vocational school graduate or equivalent thereof. Experience in related fields/ a comparable combination or work history and education.

Physical Requirements:Requires high levels of sitting, standing, walking, squatting, lifting, bending, twisting, and kneeling; requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate essential job-related equipment.Must be sighted, hearing, and mobile to such a degree as not to compromise safety rules or the safety of self and others while working.Reaching both ground level and overhead is required for tasks such as retrieving files.Lifts and carries up to 50 pounds; pushes and pulls up to 100 lbs.Hold and grip objects.

Working Environment:Performs work outside in all weather conditions.

Licensing/Certification:Must possess a valid Missouri Driver’s license.

Miscellaneous Requirements:Subject to the City’s drug and alcohol prevention and abuse ordinances.May be subject to emergency call in or weekend standby duty.
