Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive patient care across various specialties, including emergency medicine, hospital medicine, primary care, and specialty areas such as critical care, geriatrics, pediatrics, and hospice & palliative medicine. The Physician Assistant will collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality medical services, utilizing advanced clinical skills and extensive knowledge of medical procedures, diagnostics, and patient management. Experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks is essential. This role offers an opportunity to work in diverse clinical settings, including inpatient, outpatient, trauma centers, and research environments.
Experience of at least 2 years as a hospitalist, family medicine or internal medicine.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history intake.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing medical terminology and anatomy knowledge to interpret lab results, imaging studies, and diagnostic tests.
- Administer injections, medications, IV infusions, and manage airway interventions such as ventilator support and neonatal ventilator care.
- Manage acute pain through procedures like botulinum toxin treatment and pain management protocols.
- Assist in complex procedures including suturing, catheterization (cardiac or spinal tap), radiation therapy preparation, dialysis procedures, and dermal fillers.
- Document patient encounters accurately within EMR systems like Epic or Cerner while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Provide patient education on health coaching topics such as nutrition, addiction counseling, family planning, and post-acute care planning.
- Participate in clinical research trials or public health initiatives when applicable.
- Support triage processes in emergency room or urgent care settings; coordinate discharge planning for hospitalized patients.
- Ensure infection control protocols are followed during all procedures using aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine units including ICU, PICU, Neonatal ICU (NICU), or Level I/II trauma centers to optimize patient outcomes.
Experience
- Prior experience in hospital settings such as Level I/II trauma centers or teaching hospitals is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks.
- Experience managing complex cases involving infectious disease care, acute care scenarios, or post-operative recovery is preferred.
- Background in emergency medicine or urgent care environments with skills in airway management and trauma response is advantageous.
- Familiarity with CPT coding and ICD coding for documentation purposes; experience with medical coding standards such as ICD-9/ICD-10 is beneficial.
- Knowledge of clinical research protocols or participation in clinical trials adds value to the role.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are a plus.
- Experience administering injections and performing physical examinations across diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics is essential.
