Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Internal Medicine (Open Rank)

Job Summary:

The Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (APP: Advanced Practice Provider) interested in a career as a clinician, practicing and teaching general internal medicine in a patient-centered medical home located in the Denver Metro Area.

The APP will have opportunity for academic promotion judged on criteria of demonstrated excellence as a clinician/educator/scholar. APPs are encouraged to collaborate with other faculty in clinical research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary care for patients at a University of Colorado Hospital or CU Medicine Internal Medicine Clinic for the following appointment types: new, continuity, hospital/ED follow-up, acute, and annual/wellness exams.

  • Provide care for empaneled patients as well as acute care for teammate’s patients as needed.

  • Share responsibilities for night, weekend, and vacation coverage with other members of the group practice.

  • There may be opportunities to serve as a preceptor for APP students.

Work Location:

Onsite – This role is expected to work onsite and is located in the Denver Metro Area.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Assistant Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor

  • Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

  • Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Colorado

  • Medicare/Medicaid credentials

  • Unrestricted DEA license

  • Board certified or board eligible as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience in a primary care setting

o Fellowships will count toward years of experience

Senior Instructor

  • Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Colorado
  • Medicare/Medicaid credentials
  • Unrestricted DEA license
  • Board certified or board eligible as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Seven (7) or more years of professional experience in a primary care setting
    • Fellowships will count toward years of experience

Assistant Professor

  • Doctor of Nursing for a Nurse Practitioner or Master’s degree as a Physician Assistant
  • Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Colorado
  • Medicare/Medicaid credentials
  • Unrestricted DEA license
  • Board certified or board eligible as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience in an academic medicine primary care setting
    • Fellowships will count toward years of experience

A Master’s degree and years of relevant experience may be substituted for the Doctor of Nursing degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Epic or another EHR

  • Three (3) or more years of professional experience in a primary care setting

o Fellowships will count toward years of experience

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor

$111,321 – $130,000

Senior Instructor

$128,000 – $140,000

Assistant Professor

$111,321 – $130,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
