OverviewJoin our dynamic outpatient pulmonary and sleep healthcare team as a Physician Assistant, where your expertise will directly impact patient care across diverse medical settings. Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history reviews using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic and eClinicalWorks.
- Assist in diagnostic evaluation through ordering and interpreting laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures like radiology or ultrasound.
- Administer injections, perform suturing, manage airway procedures, and utilize aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety during treatments.
- Provide acute pain management, triage patients in emergency or urgent care settings, and support critical care activities including ventilator management and ICU procedures.
- Engage in clinical research and data collection efforts to improve patient outcomes; participate in clinical trials related to infectious disease care, pain management, or other specialties.
- Support hospital medicine services by discharging patients, coordinating post-acute care plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on complex cases such as Level I & II trauma centers or neonatal ICU (PICU).
- Maintain accurate medical records following HIPAA regulations; document CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding for billing purposes; ensure compliance with ICD-9/10 coding standards.
Qualifications
- Fresh Out of PA School Candidates Welcomed
- Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification from the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
- Proven experience in hospital settings such as emergency medicine, critical care, or medical-surgical units; Level I & II trauma center experience highly preferred.
- Strong proficiency with EMR systems including Epic, ECW, Meditech and other EHR platforms; familiarity with telehealth technology is a plus.
- Demonstrated skills in performing physical examinations, diagnostic evaluation, medication administration, and patient assessment across diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal patients, and hospice & palliative medicine.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, CPT coding practices, ICD coding standards (ICD-9/10), and infection control protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and health coaching; ability to work efficiently within multidisciplinary teams.
