Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Endovascular Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive inpatient care within a specialized vascular and neurovascular setting. The Physician Assistant will play a vital role in patient assessment, procedural support, and post-procedure management, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Summary: Responsible for the diagnosis of illness and physical conditions and may perform corrective measures within her/his specialty area of practice in collaboration and under direction of the surgeon within the practice and practice protocol. Additionally will assist with chart review and quality measures to assure the quality and efficacy of the practice.
Essential Functions

· Performing comprehensive and problem focused histories and physical examinations, interpret laboratory, and diagnostic tests.
· Formulate a differential diagnosis establish and a working diagnosis. Develop a treatment plan for neurosurgical conditions within the scope of practice and in conjunction with the neurosurgeon. Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions were appropriate.
· Consultation, rounding, procedures, and assisting in surgery, under direct or indirect supervision of attending neurosurgeon, both in the hospital setting and/or ambulatory surgery center.
· See Mercy consults during the daytime and coordinate follow-up care
· Round on Mercy patients and write progress notes, including responding to Nursing pages, entering orders, admitting patients, managing post-operative care, completing discharge orders, perform patient checks such as wound assessment and exam updates.
· See Mercy consults or round patients on weekend under specific circumstances such as the Attending being away.
· Scrub in for OR and angio cases; assist with pre-operative preparation such as confirm labs, orders, NPO status; and perform post-operative notes.
· Exercise judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising neurosurgeon or other healthcare professionals.
· Evaluate post-operative patients and routine follow up visits. Be available to see those patients that require a same day office visits within clinic hours.
· Assist with phone calls from patients, prior authorizations, manage triages, handle prescription refills, and review radiographic reports laboratory reports for abnormalities.
· Review x rays MRIs, CT scans of hospitalized patients and office patients with the attending neurosurgeon when needed.
· Obtain informed consent as needed for surgeries, studies, and procedures.
· Provide education, instruction and counseling to patients, families and groups of individuals. Including physician, professional, and community groups.
· Maintain appropriate billing information and monitor adequate completion of patient note.
· Document appropriately and accurately in a timely fashion the patient interaction, care and treatment of patient.
· Assist in quality monitoring reviews for the practice. Including coordination of M&M with residents and fellows.
· Perform chart reviews to assure quality of documentation.
· Rounding on patients, seeing consults, and assisting with cases may not always follow strict 9-5 hours; some days may start earlier or run later depending on case timing, but overall hours remain at approx. 40 hours per week.
· Non-essential duties as needed.
Education/Experience
- Graduation from accredited PA program
- Registration and current license as a PA
- 2-5 years medical office or hospital experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year
