OverviewWe are looking to hire a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner who shares our energy, commitment, and enthusiasm for creating the best experience for our patients.

General Summary of Duties: To promote, provide and maintain patient care under physician supervision. This includes the performance of complex tasks on a routine basis which may involve direct and indirect clinical care, research assistance, and administrative responsibilities. Rheumatology and/or Allergy experience preferred, but not required.Nurse Practioner/Physician Assistant Essential Functions:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessment of patients throughout the continuum in the ambulatory setting based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status.
  • Direct care of patients with a wide range of rheumatologic diseases to include New Patients, Consultations, Follow-Up Patients
  • Proficient use of EMR systems
  • Assist in diagnostic evaluations using laboratory testing and medical imaging; interpret ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for billing purposes.
  • Perform and document history and physicals, order and review diagnostic studies, therapeutic procedures, prescribe medications, interaction and direct communication with referring physicians, collaboration with and direct reporting of patient information to the medical staff
  • Coordinate care with other disciplines, build strong collaborative relationships across the organization and the local medical community as many patients require long term and multi-disciplinary care
  • Direct care and management in the outpatient setting to include: initiation of evaluation, documentation of clinic visits, patient and family education, obtaining informed consent for treatment, documentation of telephone conversations, identification and treatment of treatment toxicities, management of symptoms, counseling and support, collaboration with and referrals to other health care providers, and provision of education to nursing staff, students, and the community
  • Treatment planning with Physicians
  • Engage in peer-to-peer reviews with insurance
  • Perform credentialed procedures
  • Participate in clinical research as appropriate
  • Attend conferences and continuing education/staff development programs to maintain knowledge of current literature and guidelines for care
  • Perform IV infusions and patient care in infusion suite

Technical Expertise

  • Excellent critical thinking, self-motivation and interpersonal communication skills essential.
  • Must be proficient in word processing, spreadsheet and database use, and other computer software programs for data analysis, and presentations.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Licensed as an RN in State of South Carolina, National Certification as a nurse practitioner by nationally accredited organization
  • Degree requirements as defined by South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners as required for clinical licensure as a Physician Assistant.
  • Must have current certificate of authority and certificate to prescribe (or eligible) by South Carolina Board of Nursing.

Experience:

  • 2-4 years’ experience as a practicing Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner preferred, but not required.

Requirements

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license with current certification.
  • Proven experience in diverse clinical settings such as hospital emergency rooms (ER), ICU/PICU units, outpatient clinics, or nursing homes preferred.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth; experience with telehealth platforms preferred. Experience with NextGen/TSI is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy; skilled in physical examinations and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
  • Ability to perform procedures such as suturing, IV insertion/infusion, catheterization (including Foley catheters), phlebotomy/venipuncture; sterile processing experience is a plus.
  • Experience managing complex cases involving acute pain management or infectious diseases; familiarity with CPT coding is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation law; experience working with people with disabilities or developmental disabilities is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently in inpatient or outpatient environments; excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration.
  • Must pass background checks and drug screening as required by healthcare regulations. Pay: $75,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
