<Responsibilities>
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to inform diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Assist in diagnostic evaluations utilizing EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks to document findings accurately and efficiently.
- Administer injections, perform suturing, and manage acute pain using evidence-based techniques like botulinum toxin treatments where applicable.
- Support hospital-based care including ICU, Level I and II trauma centers, neonatal units with ventilator management, and post-acute care settings such as nursing homes or hospice environments.
- Engage in clinical research and clinical trials to advance medical knowledge and improve patient outcomes; collect data meticulously following HIPAA regulations.
- Manage emergency situations through triage, airway management, ventilator operation, and acute care interventions in emergency room or urgent care settings.
- Coordinate discharge planning, medication administration including CPT coding for procedures, and ensure compliance with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards for billing accuracy.
<Qualifications>
- Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification from the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
- Proven experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, critical care (ICU), or related acute care environments; Level I or II trauma center experience preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with medical records management and data collection is essential.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, diagnostic evaluation techniques, and pharmacology.
- Hands-on experience administering injections, suturing, phlebotomy, and managing complex patient cases including ventilator use or neonatal ventilator support.
- Skilled in performing physical examinations and utilizing aseptic techniques to prevent infection; adept at patient assessment and health coaching.
- Experience with telehealth platforms is a plus; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding for procedures, and documentation standards required for compliance.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams; commitment to patient-centered care aligned with HIPAA standards.
