Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Surgical Oncology Advanced Practice Provider, Nurse Practitioner and or Physician Assistant to join the team. This role will be full-time day shift, weekdays only. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will play a key role in supporting the Division of Surgical Oncology at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. Working alongside fellowship-trained surgical oncologists, and a multidisciplinary team, the APP will provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the growth of innovative programs within the division.

Surgical Oncology, APP Job Responsibilities: • Perform comprehensive assessments through history-taking, physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations for patients with complex hepatopancreatobiliary and surgical oncology disorders to include non-colorectal intra-abdominal masses, biliary system abnormalities and soft tissue masses. Collaborate with surgeons to manage preoperative and postoperative care, including planning and executing evidence-based treatment protocols. • Provide inpatient care, including daily rounds, progress monitoring, and discharge planning for surgical oncology patients. • Participate in the management of patients in a Level 1 trauma center environment, contributing to a high level of coordinated, multidisciplinary care. • May assist in surgical procedures and provide intraoperative support as needed. • Conduct minor diagnostic or therapeutic procedures as credentialed and necessary for patient care. • Collaborate with surgical oncology nurse navigators, outpatient and inpatient nursing staff, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless patient care throughout the treatment journey. • Will work collaboratively with surgical residents. May act as a preceptor or additional educator for APP students. • Support the regionally dominant melanoma program and assist in growing the HIPEC program by actively contributing to patient management and program development
- Experience : Minimum of one year of APP experience. Experience in the inpatient surgical setting preferred.
- Certification: Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support upon start
- Licensure: Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a “Practice Agreement” signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written “Scope of Practice/Protocol” signed by the supervising physician, AND “Drug Enforcement Administration License” (if prescribing controlled substances)
- Payer Credentialing: Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor
- M edical Staff Credentialing : Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services
