Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic Urgent Care team. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine urgent care needs.
- Provide immediate treatment for common illnesses and injuries such as lacerations requiring suturing, minor fractures, sprains, and acute pain management.
- Administer injections and medications accurately while adhering to safety protocols and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks; order and interpret laboratory tests and imaging studies like sonography or medical imaging.
- Manage patient flow efficiently by triaging incoming cases, prioritizing care based on severity, and coordinating with specialists when necessary.
- Document all patient encounters thoroughly in medical records, ensuring compliance with CPT coding standards and ICD-10/ICD-9 coding requirements.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medication administration, preventive care strategies including nutrition and health coaching, and follow-up procedures.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with current state certification.
- Demonstrated experience in urgent care or emergency medicine environments with proficiency in acute care procedures such as IV infusion, venipuncture, catheterization, and sterile processing techniques.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation methods relevant to outpatient urgent care settings.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Athenahealth; familiarity with CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and utilization review processes.
- Competence in performing procedures such as suturing, dermal fillers (nice-to-have), spinal taps (nice-to-have), and basic life support certification required.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations including Level I Trauma Center or Level II Trauma Center experience preferred; familiarity with hospital medicine or inpatient settings is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education across diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, assisted living residents, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, HIPAA compliance standards, and telehealth technology for remote consultations is desirable.
