OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Part Time Physician Assistant to support a cardiothoracic surgeon within the Greater Houston area. This role involves rounding at multiple hospitals, assisting with some bedside procedures, and providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical specialty environment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in cardiothoracic surgery, critical care, or hospital medicine, along with a strong ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
- Perform daily hospital rounds, assess postoperative and inpatient cardiothoracic patients, and document clinical findings.
- Assist the surgeon with bedside procedures such as chest tube management, wound care, suture and staple removal, and other minor interventions as needed.
- Conduct patient assessments including physical exams, vital signs, medication review, and detailed history documentation.
- Coordinate patient care plans with hospital staff, nursing teams, case managers, and other specialists.
- Manage postoperative follow up tasks including dressing changes, discharge planning, and educating patients and families.
- Travel between hospitals across the Greater Houston area based on the surgeon’s rounding schedule.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within EMR system
- Ensure compliance with all hospital protocols, HIPAA regulations, and sterile technique standards.
- Communicate effectively with the surgeon regarding clinical changes, patient updates, and critical findings.
Skills
- Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas.
- Prior experience in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiovascular care, ICU, or a related surgical specialty is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of cardiothoracic anatomy, postoperative complications, chest tubes, drains, and inpatient surgical management.
- Comfortable performing bedside procedures and managing acute clinical situations.
- Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to travel to multiple hospital locations within the Greater Houston area.
- Strong commitment to patient care, professionalism, and collaborative teamwork.
Pay: $65.00 – $75.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10.0 – 15.0 per week
