OverviewAs our Functional Medicine Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, you will provide comprehensive primary care through a functional lens, guiding patients of Root MD through individualized treatment plans, supporting acute needs, and offering ongoing continuity. This position is ideal for someone who wants to think beyond symptom management and build long-term partnerships with patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary care and functional medicine evaluations for patients of all ages.
• Support individualized treatment plans integrating lifestyle, nutrition, behavioral, and conventional approaches.
• Collaborate closely with our clinical team to ensure coordinated, compassionate, high-touch care.
• Participate in patient education, workshops, and practice initiatives.
• Provide high-touch patient communication—checking in between visits, ensuring plan adherence, and reinforcing lifestyle recommendations.
• Coordinate closely with the physician on all diagnostic and treatment decisions, escalating concerns promptly and clearly.
• Perform minor in-office procedures such as basic wound care, injections, and skilled IV placement.
• Contribute to a welcoming, grounded, and relationship-based clinic culture.

Skills

• Strong understanding of Functional Medicine principles and practices.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with patients.
• Proficiency in conducting comprehensive patient assessments and developing personalized care plans.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and patient management.

Qualifications

Required

• Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensed in Florida.

Preferred

• Prior experience in functional, integrative, lifestyle, or root-cause medicine.
• Training from IFM, A4M, or similar programs (completed or in progress).
• Experience in DPC, concierge, or relationship-based primary care settings.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Base Pay: $70,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
