JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Program Coordinator for the Department of Physician Assistant Studies provides admissions and clinical support for the program. The position also supports the core faculty, as well as adjunct faculty and guest lecturers in delivering the PA curriculum. This position provides support for all aspects of admissions and clinical activities once students have matriculated into the program including working with the QICC Chair on accreditation standards with ARC-PA; coordination of clinical site placement; onboarding clinical preceptors for core clinical classes, and assisting students in program-specific clinical rotations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Administers and maintains a statewide network of physicians and/or physician assistants who serve as clinical preceptors forsecond – year students.
- Ensures affiliation agreement for each clinic/hospital is established; processes new/amended contract paperwork as needed; maintains database of clinical sites and university affiliation agreements.
- Processes required documentation for new preceptors.
- Coordinates with regional directors’ schedule of rotations and communicates information to students; provides routine reminders to all impacted preceptors.
- Communicates with students and preceptors’ schedules at beginning of each rotation. Set up clinical evaluations at the end of each rotation.
- Obtains evaluations from preceptors and students at the end of rotations; provides summary reports to program director and chair.
- Attends recruitment and admissions events across the state of Tennessee.
- Screens applications of potential students in the Central Application for Physician Assistants system (CASPA) based on established criteria.
- Serves as the point of contact for pre-applicants to discuss transcripts, direction of study, and coordinates with the Director of Admissions.
- Coordinates with One Stop Shop, Registrar, and Bursar offices to ensure all enrollment requirements are met.
- Collaborates with QICC Chair to maintain compliance with ARC-PA standards regarding admissions
- Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Health Professions, or a related field of study. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: T wo (2) years of related experience in health care or higher education administration; OR a combination of related education and work experience to equal six (6) years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to read and proof documents for accuracy.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and proactively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
