Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant specializing in Neurosurgery to join our dynamic medical team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive patient care within a fast-paced hospital environment, supporting neurosurgical procedures, postoperative management, and critical care. This role offers an opportunity to work in a leading healthcare facility with a focus on innovative treatment approaches and multidisciplinary collaboration. The Physician Assistant will be integral in delivering high-quality neurosurgical services, ensuring patient safety, and advancing clinical research initiatives.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history documentation using advanced EMR systems such as Epic and Cerner.
  • Assist in neurosurgical procedures, including suturing, sterile technique maintenance, and intraoperative support in the OR setting.
  • Manage acute pain and airway issues, including ventilator management and airway stabilization during emergencies.
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations such as spinal taps, radiologic assessments, and neurological testing; interpret imaging results for clinical decision-making.
  • Administer injections, medications, IV infusions, and participate in medication management following HIPAA regulations and clinical protocols.
  • Coordinate discharge planning, post-operative care, and follow-up assessments to optimize patient recovery outcomes.
  • Engage in clinical research activities including data collection, analysis, and documentation for ongoing trials related to neurotrauma or other neurosurgical conditions.
  • Provide triage services in emergency or urgent care settings; manage complex cases involving Level I and Level II trauma center protocols.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across inpatient and outpatient settings to ensure comprehensive patient care including hospice & palliative medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and family planning.
  • Maintain accurate medical records adhering to ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards; utilize EMR systems like eClinicalWorks for data management.

Experience

  • Proven experience working within hospital medicine or emergency medicine environments with exposure to critical care settings such as ICU or PICU.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems including Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms; experience with telehealth is preferred.
  • Prior experience managing patients with complex neurological conditions or in neurotrauma units at Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of advanced procedures such as cardiac catheterization, catheterization techniques, radiation therapy support, and neurodiagnostic evaluation is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with clinical trials processes, research protocols, and medical imaging interpretation enhances candidate suitability.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and relevant licensure as a Physician Assistant are required; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are a plus. Pay: $180,000.00 – $190,000.00 per year
