Job SummaryWe are seeking an applicant for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Orthopaedic healthcare team, working in our Lockport and Williamsville offices. This role offers an opportunity to work collaboratively with an Orthopaedic surgeon and an advanced practice provider. The ideal candidate will have experience with EMR/EHR systems and possess a background in clinical assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and medical procedures. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in medical documentation, medication administration, patient education, and complex case management.
Duties
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments across age groups from 12 years to adult.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, such as sprain, strains, joint injuries and fractures.
- Administer joint injections, reductions and other minor orthopedic procedures.
- Develop treatment plans. Manage patient care through telehealth platforms with experience in telemedicine systems; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide patient education, explaining the necessity and effects of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Document all clinical encounters accurately using EMR/EHR system.
- Participate in infection control protocols and maintain aseptic techniques during procedures; ensure adherence to infection prevention standards.
- Prescribe medications including schedule III, IV and V controlled substances to the extent permitted by licensing.
- Attend continuing education courses as needed.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license and DEA certificate with current certifications required by New York State.
- Extensive proficiency with EMR/EHR systems, Medent experience helpful.
- Experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding is essential.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology medical terminology.
- Ability to perform procedures such as suturing and joint injections.
- Competence in infection control practices; knowledge of sterile processing techniques; ability to work effectively within HIPAA guidelines.
- Additional desirable skills include experience with medical imaging interpretation & sonography; familiarity with occupational health & workers’ compensation law; telehealth experience, proficiency in utilization management.
