Full Job Description

Join a Premier Cardiac Electrophysiology Team in the Chicago Area.

We are a well-established, privately owned cardiology practice with a specialized focus in Electrophysiology seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to deliver exceptional inpatient and outpatient care alongside our board-certified electrophysiologists. APN/PA will be responsible and accountable for the overall care management of an assigned group of patients.

Practice Locations (rotating)La Grange, South Loop Chicago, Palos Heights, Orland Park, and Oak Lawn – all within easy commuting distance.

Essential Functions/Duties:

-Management of patients with cardiac arrhythmias and cardiac devices in both inpatient and outpatient setting.

-Collaborates with members of the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

-Clinical judgment skills to make treatment plans of actual or potential health conditions.

-Provide and interpret diagnostic testing.

-Set up procedures and outpatient testing.

-Assist with prior authorizations for procedures/ testing and medications.

-Anticoagulation management for patients.

-Assist physicians as needed in outpatient clinic and inpatient services.

-Documenting inpatient and outpatient clinic and progress notes.

-Collaborates with physicians, staff, patients and family members to develop and implement a coordinated plan of care.

-Provide ongoing education to patients and patient family members.

-Reviews and updates protocols and standards of care based on current research and clinical practice guidelines.

-Develop teaching tools for patients regarding their cardiac conditions.

-Teaching patients and family members related to their cardiac conditions, treatment plans and medications.

-Provides pre, peri and post-operative instructions for electrophysiology procedures including but not limited to cardiac device implants, cardiac ablations, cardioversions, and tilt table testing.

-Assist physician/ other nurse practitioners during office visits as needed.

-Provide wound care; assess wounds for potential complications/infections.

-Documentation of clinic visits and phone calls.

-Make recommendations for improving processes and quality of care for patients.

-Participates in clinical research.

-Performs other clinical support tasks as assigned.

-Travel to device satellite clinics (South Loop, Evergreen Park, Oak Lawn, Palos Heights, Orland Park)

Education:

-Master’s of Science in Nursing

-Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

-OR for PAs- Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) or Master of Clinical Health Services (MCHS) title

-2-years direct patient care experience in Cardiology .

-Certification/Licensure: Active license as a Registered Nurse, Certified Nurse Practitioner in Illinois or multistate licensure, or PA license.

-BCLS and ACLS certifications.

Experience/Skills

At least 2 years’ experience in Cardiology with preference in Electrophysiology. Knowledge of telemetry, pacemakers, implantable cardiac defibrillators, and electrophysiological procedures. Must have excellent time management, organizational, interpersonal communication, and written/verbal communication skills. Must have knowledge of EMR systems.
