Full Job Description

We are looking for an energetic, detail oriented, and reliable Physician Assistant to add to our Surgical and Clinical team!

Clinical experience is a MUST. The ideal candidate will have experience in surgical subspecialties, critical care, and/or wound care knowledge, as well as impeccable interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

You must have a true passion for patient interaction and relationship building. An important aspect of this role is also the ability to fully evaluate a patient’s health history, recognizing issues that may impact surgical intervention as well as identifying and managing postoperative concerns and/or complications.

As a Physician Assistant at Monarch Plastic Surgery, you will be an integral part of the personalized care of our patients. Ultimately, you should be able to listen to patient concerns, support them in their surgical journey, be knowledgeable regarding their questions and concerns, and celebrate their successes.

You will be responsible for assisting in the operating room. This includes supply preparation for cases, ensuring patient medical optimization, first-assisting during surgery, and following patients postoperatively.

Physician Assistant Requirements

  • MUST BE LOCAL TO METRO ATLANTA
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Must be willing to learn new skills.
  • Must be very detail-oriented and organized.
  • Assist with new patient consults and verification of medical histories.
  • Obtain pre- and post-operative standardized patient photos.
  • Responsible for assistance with all surgical pre-operative visits and pre-operative management of surgical patients:
  • Ordering and following up on preoperative and diagnostic tests
  • Educating patients regarding their planned surgery and recovery process
  • Performing basic preoperative physical exam
  • Communicating with the surgeon any concerns or abnormal findings
  • Reviewing consents and perioperative documents prior to surgery
  • Ordering relevant surgical supplies (implants, pain pumps, etc)
  • Prescribing perioperative medications
  • Responsible for perioperative tasks
  • Gather surgical supplies for individual cases and bring them to the OR (i.e. implants, pain pumps, garments, etc.)
  • Prepare the operating room (i.e. gather sutures, communicate with scrub tech regarding instruments and intraoperative needs)
  • Assist the surgeon in the operating room (i.e. retraction, closing incisions, de-epithelialization)
  • Assist with postoperative handoff to PACU following surgery
  • Responsible for assistance with post-operative patient management
  • Conducting post-operative patient visits and wound checks
  • Recognizing surgical complications (i.e. infection, wound dehiscence, seroma, hematoma, DVT/PE, etc) and notifying surgeon for next steps in management
  • Availability for patient questions/ concerns/ reassurance in a caring and empathetic manner.
  • Assist with in-office procedures and perform certain in-office procedures following training
  • Assist with clinical trials
  • Assist with GLP-1 weight loss program
  • Answer patient questions via email/ phone/in person.
  • Management of surgical supply inventory
