Augusta Urology Associates is a private practice consisting of 3 Urologists and 3 Advanced Practice Providers.
Summary of Job:
Perform general clinical and clerical duties according to the medical group standards of quality, efficiency and desired outcomes. With collaboration and guidance of the practice’s physicians, assist in assessing, planning, diagnosing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating specialty appropriate care to the practice’s patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Effectively identify, evaluate, and address acute and chronic symptoms and conditions presented by the practice’s patients.
- Work in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, allowing for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
- Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues for the practice’s patients, including co-management with physicians and work-ins for acute patients.
- Educate patients and/or families about preventive care, symptoms management, prescribed medication management complexities, medical and surgical issues, and use of other prescribed or recommended medical treatments.
- Maintain legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Document all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance), JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), and state regulatory standards.
- Follow the practice’s Compliance Program specific to Incident To (office) and Shared Visit (Hospital) documentation and coding requirements.
- Facilitate evaluation of records by physician(s), peers, and Quality and Standards according to protocols, and receive and implement constructive directives.
- Analyze new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or “hands-on training” and assimilate this knowledge into clinical practice.
- Following the introductory period, the practitioner will see, evaluate and manage office patients, either as: interval visits between physician visits or, the practitioner’s own patients and, inpatient rounds, in concert with the physician as a means to be highly responsive to patient care and improve the efficiency of MD time utilization, and, inpatient rounds, individually, when consistent with acuity and clinical comfort levels.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Required license: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Two plus years of relevant experience preferred
