Job Title:
Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine. Position begins Jan. 2026
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our wound care and hyperbaric medical clinic. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care, focusing on the assessment, treatment, and management of acute and chronic wounds, as well as conditions requiring hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). This role combines clinical expertise with patient education, coordination of care, and collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including history, physical examination, and wound assessments.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for acute and chronic wounds, including diabetic ulcers, venous and arterial ulcers, pressure injuries, post-surgical wounds, and other complex wounds.
- Administer and oversee hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments in accordance with established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Perform wound care procedures, such as debridement, dressing changes, and application of advanced wound care products.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests relevant to wound and hyperbaric care.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
- Educate patients and families on wound prevention, treatment plans, and home care strategies.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinic policies and regulatory requirements.
- Stay current with wound care and hyperbaric medicine best practices, techniques, and continuing education.
- Be familiar with insurance requirements for charting and prerequisite tests when submitting for HBO authorization.
Knowledge & Abilities:
- Ensure safety of all patients
- Ensure safe and effective operation of hyperbaric chambers.
- Evaluate and assess all patients, new and existing, prior to the patient undergoing hyperbaric treatment.
- Provide wound care to patients.
- Effectively and accurately maintain all patient records and documentation; Assess and record patient’s progress.
- Effectively communicate with referring physicians on updates regarding their patients
- Effectively communicate with patients regarding their treatment and provide education to further assist patients with their healing.
- Effectively conduct peer to peer reviews as needed.
- Ensure knowledge of proper billing codes
- Maintain up to date education and CME courses as required by law.
- Responsible for maintaining clinic supplies for treatments.
- Understand and follow work rules and procedures.
- Always maintains a professional and tidy appearance.
- Maintain a professional and polite demeanor with all patients.
- Comply with rules and regulations of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society
- Work with the Medical Director to ensure all medical issues are attended to.
- Actively participate in developing and maintaining relationships with physicians who are able to refer patients for necessary HBOT.
- As the leader of the clinic lead by example by arriving to your clinic consistently in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted Texas state license as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP).
- Current DEA registration or eligibility.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities..
- 3-5 years of experience or more as a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner.
- 4 years of Wound Care experience preferred.
- Hyperbaric experience is preferred..
- Must be able to work flexible hours, multitask and be a team player.
- Must have a positive attitude.
- Must have an excellent bedside manner.
- Must have strong leadership skills
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-Time Position: 40 hours per week.
- The clinic operates Monday through Friday
