Location: Norfolk, VAJob Type: Full-Time or Part-Time 1099 (Independant Contractor)Compensation: $62.50/hrSchedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (No weekends or holidays)

Position Summary
We are seeking experienced and licensed Physician Assistants (PA-C)/Nurse Practitioner (NP) to conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for Veterans submitting disability claims to the VA. This role involves focused, non-treatment clinical assessments to evaluate the impact of service-connected injuries or health conditions. You will work within a streamlined, supportive environment that emphasizes clinical quality, operational excellence, and Veteran dignity.
This is a non-treatment, assessment-only role — no ongoing care, prescribing, or follow-up is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Comprehensive Medical Disability Evaluations (MDEs)
- Conduct in-depth assessments of Veterans including physical exams, range of motion testing, and condition-specific evaluations.
- Review and Analyze Medical Records
Interpret diagnostic test results, service treatment records, and VA documentation to inform your clinical findings.
- Complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs)
Utilize web-based tools to enter findings during exams and ensure compliance with VA-required formats and criteria. Formulate unbiased, evidence-based opinions about a Veteran’s functional limitations and the potential impact on work/life activities. Submit precise and timely reports adhering to VA contractual obligations and HIPAA regulations. Partner with our Quality Assurance team, schedulers, and clinical support staff to ensure timely case completion and optimal Veteran experience. Minimum Qualifications
- Provide Objective Medical Opinions
- Document Accurately and Thoroughly
- Collaborate with Internal Teams
- Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or nurse practitioner program
- Licensure: Unrestricted PA/NP license in good standing in any U.S. state or territory
- Certification: Current NCCPA/AANPCB/AANP/ANCC certification required
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in primary care, internal medicine, occupational health, or a related field is highly recommended. However, new graduates are welcome to apply.
- BLS Certification: Current Basic Life Support certification required
- Technology: Proficiency in EMRs, MS Office Suite, and comfort working within secure web-based platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing C&P or similar disability evaluations
- Military service or direct experience with Veteran populations
- Military spouses or family of service members
- Prior work with federal health agencies or the VA
- Training or certification in occupational medicine, physical assessment, or medical disability evaluation

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and use of a computer
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
- Full range of physical motion required for musculoskeletal and general exams
Work Environment
